Untangling the Knot: A Successful Disney World Trip

Trips to Walt Disney World can go two ways. "This is the best trip we have ever had" to "why do people come here." It all comes down to your experience. Now some factors can't be accounted for. Afternoon storms or blistering summer heat are going to be a reality, though the effects can be minimized. However, with the tips below you will experience magical memories that will stand the test of time.

Untangled Tip #1: Have a Plan

It sounds basic but when we say plan, we mean PLAN. You wouldn't go into battle without knowing exactly where the enemy lies, or what surprise encounters you may run into. Treat your Disney World Trip as a fight for survival. OK.... that might be a little harsh, but Disney World trips cost money, a good bit of money, don't waste the opportunity for a magical experience by celebrating the booking. Untangled Tip #2: Stay on Property

This is important for numerous reasons. First, there is a lot to plan, don't let how to get to the parks be one of them. Transportation from Disney Resorts to the attractions is very easy and convenient. Most properties have more then one way to travel as well. Second, proximity to the parks. Need to get back quickly for a nap or change before going to see the fireworks. You are right in the action to do that. Third, theming allows you to stay in the magic without separation. Each property has its own theming and either very in your face Disney characters or more hidden Disney themes that become truly magical when you see them. Finally, activities allow for a break from the action without leaving your resort. Poolside movies, amazing pools, games, scavenger hunts, bike rides, and much more. Each property comes with its own character to match what you are looking for. Also, recently it was announced extended hours for Deluxe hotel guests. Want to maximize your experience, be in the parks when its only at maybe 10% capacity.

Untangled Tip #3: Go against the Grain

So you are super excited. You go to Magic Kingdom the first day of your trip and you are gonna ride Snow White Mine Train. You head straight there and..... 120 minute wait!! You are demolished, when you get off the ride its lunch time and the crowds are packed. Similar stories can be written in Epcot and Hollywood Studios. However, if you would have gone to Frontierland first you would be clear off of Splash Mountain (twice probably), Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and maybe Haunted Mansion. These two experiences will lead to two different feelings at the end of the day and both will have a 120 minute wait on Snow White Mine Train. Its important to understand where people will head first and you can be in that crowd if you want or if you want to maximize a feeling of accomplishment.... Go against the grain!!!

Untangled Tip #4: Know Your Budget

Walt Disney World can be done on several budgets but experiences and plans need to change based on how much you want to spend. Eating at all the Disney shows, at all the table service dining venues, and character meals costs more then eating only at table service or trying to eat in your room. In addition, Deluxe Resorts offer amenities that the Value Resorts don't that offer amenities staying off site doesn't. Want to be close to Magic Kingdom with a view of the park, its gonna cost ya. Wanna be able to walk to Epcot, its gonna cost ya. Alternately, if these things aren't a concern, you can find some really great deals. Being honest with your Travel Planner on what your budget looks like can make planning so much easier.
